Immigration Goes Up In Canada, Thanks To New Gov’t Strategy

The government of Canada under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has recently created and launched a new strategy for immigration, which was aimed at attracting and bringing in more individuals who would be permanent residents in the country. The strategy definitely seems like it is working as how it is supposed to be, and this is as per one of the top immigration officials of Canada. With the new strategy for bringing in immigrants to the country, Canada is once again starting to lure the needed immigrants and is also helping get the ball rolling to be able to meet and even exceed the goal that it has set for the year, which is to bring in 401,000 new permanent residents this 2021.

 

This is, of course, good news for plenty of individuals who have been eyeing Canada as the country where they would like to start a new life in. With the pandemic, many people had to put their plans on hold knowing that countries were not accepting new immigrants. However, this is surely a good sign since it shows that Canada is open to new people who would be living in the country.

Marco Mendicino is the Immigration Minister of Canada and he recently disclosed that in January 2021, the country has already been able to bring in 26,600 new permanent residents. This number is definitely good news as it is higher by 10% as compared to the total number that Canada was able to get last January 2020. Even with the pandemic happening still, the number is most especially a good one. There was no outbreak yet in January 2020 and yet the number for January 2021 is actually higher.

 

Mendicino continued that he remains positive that Canada would be able to meet its target for 2021 when it comes to bringing in new immigrants. He said that considering the additional individuals they were able to bring in until the middle of February, Canada is already around 40% right ahead that it needs in terms of pace to be able to meet the goal that it has set for this year. Mendicino mentioned that he believes the country has already started its sprint towards achieving its goal.
