More Immigrants Arriving In New Zealand Compared to Those Leaving

New Zealand is deemed by many as a country that is a good place to live in. Many individuals from around the world dream of living in that country. There are those who push through with sending in their applications to be able to move there as an immigrant. And then there are those who may have been denied from being an immigrant since they do not have all the requirements to being one. However, they still do their best and try to complete all the requirements so that they can reapply and, hopefully, make it to New Zealand.

Well, it does seem like there are still a lot of people who really want to make it to NZ as an immigrant. This is as per the statistics from the country’s official agency that deals with the numbers. As per the recorded data, there are still more immigrants arriving in New Zealand each year as compared to the total number of immigrants in the country who are choosing to leave.

More arriving than leaving

As per the Statistics New Zealand in a statement that they published recently, the net of movement of immigrants in NZ for last year until April has amounted to a total of 55,800 individuals. There was a total of 151,000 individuals who came to the country and there were only 95,100 who left. That definitely shows that more and arriving than leaving.

On this, Kim Dunstan has mentioned that it is a period of migration that has been sustained and continued through the years. Dunstan works as a senior demographer and has been looking at the data and trends in movement in New Zealand. Statistics NZ has also shared that the biggest number of arrivals actually came from the neighboring country, Australia. Next in rank are the immigrants from China at 11%. Third in rank at 10% are the immigrants from India. Of course, there are still a lot of other immigrants who came from all corners of the world.

A look at the arrivals

Dunstan looked at the data of arrivals and he said that a huge portion of people arriving in New Zealand is citizens of the country who may have moved to other countries and came back. The others are the immigrants who came with work visas or with student visas. There were also some who came with visas for working holidays and those with visitor visas.

He also looked at the trend in departures and he said that the total number of those who left the country is definitely higher as compared to the previous years but the change is really not that significant to have an impact on the total number of immigrants arriving in the country.
