StatsCan Sees Canada Population In 2036: Half Are Children Or Immigrants

There are groups in society who do look at certain things and check the numbers on various aspects of life or perhaps a country. A good example would be StatsCan (or also known as Statistics Canada). This group worked on the statistics of Canada and checked out the country and its immigrants. In the newest study that they have done, they were able to project that by 2036, the country will have a population where half are actually children or immigrants.

According to the study, if immigration in the country continues with the current rate with each coming year, immigrants or children of these immigrants could actually take over half of the country’s population by 2036. That would be for every two people, one would be an immigrant.

The immigrant numbers

Canada has a population that is growing as we speak. It has been growing like this and it started in the 1990s. This growth can be attributed to the immigrants coming in to the country. The rates are steady.

In the study done by StatsCan, this rate of immigrants coming to the country is quite likely that it will continue to grow right until the year 2036. By that time, the population of Canada should double the numbers of 1871.

The country is quite a huge one and the numbers are really not that alarming as compared to other countries were the population can get really huge and there are a lot less land for them to stay in. This is not quite the problem when it comes to Canada. In fact, if this was a problem, the policies when it comes to immigration just may be stricter. However, this is not the case for the country and so the policies remain the same.

Other immigration projections for Canada

When it comes to language and any projected statistics on this, StatsCan has been able to provide information on what they believe are going to happen. According to the group’s study, by the year 2036, more than 25% of the country’s population will be speaking and using a mother tongue that would not be French or English. French and English are actually two of the most spoken languages in the country. By 2036, there will be a huge amount of individuals who would have an original language that is not these two.

The study also continues that most of the immigrants would be staying in the largest cities of the country. These should include Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. It is estimated that Toronto would be having the biggest amount of immigrants living in it.
