Climate change is not a myth despite what other people say. There have been proofs about climate change and it shows just how real this is. It is something that people have to worry about because it affects everybody in the world. This change is definitely not for the better and it is causing a lot more harm and nothing really good. There are countries that are more affected by this as compared to others and it is causing a lot of problems for those who live there. This is one of the reasons why the government of New Zealand wants to help those refugees who are affected gravely by climate change.

The way to helping those refugees for the New Zealand government would be by changing the policies that are part of their immigration system. This way, the country would be able to bring in those refugees and give them a home that would be really different from what they have gone through.

The plan to help those affected by the change

The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Kate Laurell Ardern, has been working on those potential changes to the immigration policies of the country. According to her, the government of the country is working hard at the new potential plan for this goal. In fact, she says that their aim would be those individuals who come from countries in the Pacific region. She also disclosed that they are looking at the potential options that they would be having for those immigrants who may be making their way to New Zealand as refugees. If there are changes that they can do with the current arrangements for refugees, they will do something about it.

Those refugees who are considered to be part of the climate change group are the ones who have been displaced right from their place of dwelling because their place has been gravely affected by climate change. They are the ones who may have been struck by really strong typhoons or maybe have had their homes disappear because of higher waters in the ocean.

More refugees to be accepted

As per the current numbers, the country is taking in 1000 refugees that have been affected by climate change. One of the changes that the country’s government is doing is making sure that there are more that they will be able to welcome to their soil. New Zealand is adding 50% of its current quota which now totals to 1,500 refugees and this would be put into motion by the year 2020. With that, it definitely shows that there would be a lot more refugees who would be able to make it to the country and be given a new home after going through a lot in their home of origin.
