The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (also known as the IRCC) has opened the Parents and Grandparents Program. But only for a brief period. The agency had a goal for doing this and that was to accept Expressions of Interest for those who would like to bring their parents and grandparents to Canada as immigrants. The goal was to be able to have 27,000 submissions of Interest to Sponsor. As it turned out, there were a lot more than the agency had thought would be interested.
Despite being open for just quite a brief period, the IRCC was able to get the amount that they had set out as goal for the total Interest to Sponsor submissions. This was the very reason why the program was closed, seemingly just as soon as it had been opened. There were plenty of submissions that the agency was able to hit their target in no time at all. This happened on the 28th of January this year and the Interest to Sponsor was sent in from citizens of Canada and those who held permanent residency statuses.
Getting the Expressions of Interest in
27,000 Interests to Sponsor was the goal of the IRCC when it opened the Parents and Grandparents Program. According to the agency, when they opened this, they had already disclosed that they would be accepting and processing of the documents in a way where the first ones in would be the ones to be served first. This is the very first step for those immigrants who would like to bring their parents and their grandparents to the country. This is a program of Canada which aims to reunite families that have been separated because the immigrant had to go there to study or to work or some other valid reason.
When the IRCC made the form available online, it was only for a few minutes before they had to close it all up again. According to the agency, it took just a few minutes before they were able to receive the amount that they were targeting. This goes to show that there are a lot of interested individuals in Canada who are really hoping that they could share the Canadian life with their parents and their grandparents, thus the huge amount of submissions.
What happens next
Now that the submissions are in, the IRCC has now sent out word via Twitter that the successful submissions of Interests to Sponsor would be processed. Those who were able to do this would then be getting an email in the next 24 hours so that they would know that their submission has already been received by the IRCC. They would then have to wait for any further announcements and emails regarding the status of their submissions and what should happen next.
