At the start of the month, business leaders in Canada have communicated with the government just what it needs to be able to do better in the midst of the pandemic still happening. The leaders sent the government of Canada a list that included recommendations to help the governing body have a focus on the growth of businesses for the long-term as well as a focus on the creation of jobs. The group was the Business Council of Canada and it sent an open letter addressed to Chrystia Freeland, the Deputy Prime Minister of the country.
The list included in the open letter was merely not just to
make the communication be lengthy but because it contained details on what the
businesses in Canada needed in terms of help from the government of the
country. Businesses have been one of the most badly hit sectors because of the
pandemic and it is trying to get the best help that it can get to make sure
that it gets back on its feet and possibly do better than it was doing
pre-pandemic.
The list included in the letter
As per the letter sent to Freeland, the group has seven main
recommendations that it believes would help promote and urge the recovery of
the economy of Canada. Included in the list would be giving focus on bringing
in skilled immigrant workers to help out businesses in the country. The letter
continued to discuss this recommendation and the reason for bringing in skilled
immigrant workers would be to help cultivate and grow the human capital in Canada.
By bringing in skilled immigrant workers, the workforce would be more agile and
would also be more adaptable, which is a great thing to have.
Aside from that, skilled immigrant workers can also help the
young professionals by sharing what they know while at work so the young
professionals can start building their own careers which would surely be
rewarding in the end. Having a greatly working immigration system in Canada
would help be able to bring in the needed skilled immigrant workers.
Looking at the skills
There are plenty of immigrants in Canada who may have had to
settle for having a different job from his/her skillsets. That is why the
organization is also urging the government of the country to take a look at its
rules so that the skillsets of immigrants are utilized to the fullest. A good
example of this would be an immigrant doctor who made his/her way to the country
but had to resort to driving a taxi because of some limitations that could be
found in the immigration and work policies. By changing that, Canada can make
good use of the expertise of the immigrants which would be beneficial to the
country as a whole.
