Vancouver Community College: An Education Destination For Many Student Immigrants In Canada

Each year, there are tons and tons of individuals who send in their applications to Canada so they can be immigrants in this beautiful country. It is really not something new though as for years, Canada has been open to immigrants and it has created various pathways to help immigrants join the country. These pathways come in the form of immigration routes and these depend on what the country needs during that time. For example, if there is a need for more businessmen to join the country and start a business there, then Canada would most likely open an immigration route that would bring in immigrant businessmen who meet the country’s given criteria.

One of the many schools in the country that has been bringing in the immigrant students is Vancouver Community College and it has been a destination for those who wish to get further education. This school is surely one of the best in Canada that is why it has become quite popular among those who are looking for a school to study in in Canada.

What is Vancouver Community College?

This school known as Vancouver Community College is, as its name suggests, is a community college and it is a public one. It is in Vancouver in British Columbia and it was founded in 1965 after there was a merging of four local schools at that time – Vancouver School of Art, King Edward Senior Matriculation, Vancouver Vocational Institute, and Vancouver School Board’s Night School Program. It is known as the largest community college in the province and it is also the oldest there. Currently, it is offering a total of 78 certificate programs. It also is offering 28 diploma programs. There are also 3 bachelor’s degree programs offered by this school in Canada.

The Vancouver Community College is known for having three campuses in Canada. These are in Annacis Island, Downtown, and Broadway. Each year, it is able to accommodate around 26,000 students who come from different parts of Canada as well as from different countries. Around 8% of these students are immigrant students who have chosen this school to take their studies.

Training for students in Vancouver Community College

Many of the programs that are available in this college in Canada require the students to have training with local business as well as local facilities. This would ensure that the students are able to learn and work on their practical skills that are part of the program. Most of these places where practical training is done are just inside the campus or near the campus so that students would be able to easily go there as part of their education. A good example would be some restaurants in and outside the campus that are run by students.
