In the past several months, there has been a drop in the
number of skilled immigrants that have been coming to New Zealand. This is
really not a huge number but it definitely is something that the government of
NZ would like to put a stop to. After all, skilled immigrants are important in
the country and are highly needed. In a recent statement from Iain
Lees-Galloway, the current Minister for Immigration of the country, he said
that the government is already looking for ways on how to be able to lure more of
the skilled immigrants from around the world to come to the country.
Aside from just luring them to New Zealand, Lees-Galloway
has also mentioned that the government is also trying to make sure that these
skilled immigrants go and push for applying to become residents of NZ. So
basically, the country is all up to welcoming them not just as skilled
immigrants but as resident skilled workers of the country. This sure is good
news for all of those immigrants in the country and for all of those potential
immigrants who are eyeing New Zealand as their destination.
Lesser new residents in
NZ
For the last financial year, the numbers have shown that
there was a lesser amount of new residents in the country. The previous
financial year was at 47,684 new residents. However, last year, it only
amounted to 37,948. This sure is lesser but it was not really that big.
However, the government is already doing work on this to make sure that the
numbers go up this year.
The government has also disclosed that the lesser amount is
basically not a really bad thing as they have also been able to bring in new
residents. However, they were expecting more and that is why they are hyping
things up to be able to get the needed people to the country and have them stay
there as residents. The country definitely does need more people with skills to
stay there and help out businesses and the economy with their knowledge,
skills, and expertise. These may seem like small things but they really do add
up to a lot.
The jobs needed to be
done
There are plenty of jobs that are open in New Zealand. This
is because there are plenty of businesses in the country that are doing good.
These businesses need employees to help them keep the work going. There are
also those that are developing and growing and need more people to be able to
achieve this. Business owners are saying that they really do need skilled
immigrants and they want those that can contribute to their company. They also
want those who can keep staying in the country so that their service will
continue.
