Right On Track: Canada Is On Its Way Towards Meeting Its Immigration Target For 2022

That is why Fraser has disclosed that the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada is bringing in an additional 1,250 workers who would help out with the processing of the huge amount of applications. In fact, he also shared that Canada has received many applications that it has broken previous application numbers.

Immigrants have been very helpful to Canada. They help grow the economy and have been there to grow the population, since Canada has an aging population. That is why the government has been ensuring that immigration targets each year continue to ramp up. In fact, by 2024, the target would be to bring in at least 451,000 new permanent residents to the country.

In 2021, the population was noted to be at 37 million, which is definitely an improvement of around 5% from the population back in 2016.
