435,000 Job Vacancies In Canada For First Quarter Of 2019

According to the official data from the government, the number of vacancies in the private sector of the country has actually hit a record high. In a report from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, the highest number of jobs that are still not filled has been recorded in Quebec.

The CFIB has continued to report that for the first three months of 2019, there has been a total of 435,000 jobs that still are vacant. This is not just for Quebec but for the entire private sector in Canada. This can be converted to a vacancy rate that amounts to 3.3%.

The trend in vacancies

Ted Mallet works as the vice president of the CFIB, where he also is the chief economist. According to him, the trend in vacancies in Canada has shown that it has been climbing at a steady pace and this has been happening for the last two years. The highest peak of the vacancies was reached from January to March 2019. This is a new record, as per Mallet.

The CFIB has also disclosed in its report that the shortage in the labor market actually has been affecting those with skilled positions.
