Occupations In New Zealand That Immigrants Can Apply For

Individuals who are interested and looking for ways to be an immigrant in New Zealand can be happy knowing that the country has recently published its list of occupations and skills that are in demand for this year, 2019. The country’s government has done its best to make sure that they would first tap into the local workforce. However, it seems like they are unable to thus the need to look for the needed skilled immigrant workers.

The government of New Zealand has recently sent out its list known as the Essential Skills in Demand (which is also known as the ESID) and this is for 2019. In this list, one can find the jobs and occupations that are open for all foreigners who have those needed skills and want to be immigrants in the country. Those who pass the requirements can actually go on and become a skilled immigrant worker in NZ. There are jobs available for those skilled individuals and they are the ones that the country needs at present.

Three lists of skills

New Zealand has three lists of needed skills and these are long term, regional, and immediate. The lists actually show which skills have a shortage and for how long the country would probably need these skills.

According to the government of NZ, one of the most needed professions is teachers. For the past number of years, there has been a huge need for teachers in the country and New Zealand is continuing to look for skilled individuals who can do the job. Immigration New Zealand, the government agency that deals with these matters, said that teachers are needed in all regions of the country. Teachers who can handle secondary education, primary school education, and early childhood education are in demand.

The minister for education is also working with Immigration New Zealand on this to be able to find the right individuals to fill up the vacancies. They are, of course, looking for individuals who have the qualifications that the country has set so they are looking for teachers with similar educational systems as the UK but they are also open to teachers from other places as well.

Occupations on the shortage list

The occupations that are on the shortage list are not few. These have been studied carefully and the Immigration New Zealand has focused on creating the list based on data and trends in the country. With that, they have been able to create a shortage list for occupations that NZ needs. Included in the list are the following jobs: clinical psychologist, electrician, general practitioner, physiotherapist, and software engineer. The complete list can be found on the Immigration New Zealand website which potential skilled immigrants can peruse and see if they are qualified.
