Honesty is something that a lot of people need in their
lives. There have been plenty of dishonest people who may have marred the way
people trust. However, this is one of the basic virtues that are being taught
to people in their younger years. With that, it is expected that people should
be honest and it would make things easier for everyone. Honesty is now going to
be tested in Canada, thanks to two immigrants who have decided to set up the
very first honesty shop located in an airport.
These two immigrants in Canada decided to do something
remarkable. They put up a kiosk in an international airport in Halifax, Nova
Scotia, Canada. Their main goal is, of course, to earn. And they also still
believe in the honesty of people. This kiosk is going to be an honesty store
and they believe that it will do well. While other people are setting up shops
and hiring plenty of people to make sure that things go smoothly, these two
immigrants decide on having an honesty store.
The importance of honesty
The two immigrants who pioneered the honesty store are
Francesco Stara and Najib Faris. They are both restaurateurs. They believe in
the whole concept of an honesty store so they decided to put it up at the
Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Canada. This type of shop is an
experience for people where they get to purchase whatever is being offered in
the shop where no employee will man the purchase. The whole concept is based on
the honesty of the customers where they are trusted by the owners to do their
purchases via a check out that is self-service. This is not like a vending
machine since, with this one, the customers have the authority to pay or not to
pay.
In an interview, Faris says that they trust people to be
honest enough to pay for any purchases that they make. They believe that
vending machines can be too controlling. The honesty shop that they have would
allow the customers to be in control and allow them to show that they are good and
honest people.
Introducing the honesty shop
The honesty store is known as Mabata. It was opened just
last 10th of July this year. The store sells snacks and drinks that have been
sourced from producers in Nova Scotia in Canada. This means that the store is
helping not only the store owners but also the local businesses that make the
products offered in the store. Faris said that people who are in the airport
would be able to enjoy what Nova Scotia has to offer in terms of food and they
will also feel good about themselves knowing that they did well by being honest
about their purchase.
