For many individuals all around the world, Canada is the country that they are eyeing moving to and become immigrants in. They have a variety of reasons for choosing Canada and the list usually includes a great education system, one of the world’s best healthcare, a strong economy, an open and welcoming culture, and a great quality of life. However, to be able to become an immigrant in Canada, one has to be able to meet all the requirements that the Canadian government has put together.
Many of the immigrants in Canada are in the country to
explore their career opportunities. That is why the recent update from the
government has gotten them hopeful and excited. As per the recent update from
Statistics Canada, there are over one million job vacancies in the country at
present. This means that people in the country have a higher chance of getting employed,
and that also includes immigrants.
Data from Statistics Canada
According to Statistics Canada, as compared to data from May
2021, the total amount of employees in the country that have been receiving a salary
or benefits from an employer have gone down. This is based on the report for
the monthly payroll employment, job vacancy, hours, and earnings for May 2022. This
means that as compared to a year ago, there are around 26,000 roles in Canada that
no longer are found on payroll.
The data also showed that the areas that had the largest
decreases happened in Manitoba and in Ontario. Manitoba had reported that it
had 2,500 vacancies, while Ontario reported that it had 30,000 vacancies. Among
all the areas included in the report, it was only the province of British
Columbia that had reported that it had experienced an increase in the number of
employees in payroll. This certainly shows that there are more vacancies and
fewer people available to fill up those vacancies.
More data from the agency
Additional data from Statistics Canada has shown that the
biggest decreases in employees in payroll were from the services industry. The data
showed that there were more than 17,000 jobs on payroll that were no longer
included. These were in the sectors of social assistance, healthcare, and
educational services.
Aside from this, the report also noted that there has been a
decrease in construction jobs in Canada. More than 17,500 jobs were no longer
on payroll and this is the very first decrease noted in this industry since
July 2021. Most of these jobs were noted in Ontario, and was noted to be around
2/3 of the decrease in the entire industry. There have been several factors that
has accounted for the decrease in this industry which included delays in a
number of construction projects.
