Annual Immigration In The United Kingdom Has Reached New Record

A good portion of them has started their studies remotely in their own countries because of the pandemic. These immigrant students have comprised a huge portion of the influx.

 

During the year that ended on June 2022, there have been around 1.1 million immigrants who have joined the UK and would be staying in the country for the long term. This is definitely a huge number as compared to the previous year's period, which recorded only 435,000. It surely is a great sign that travel is recovering, and immigrants have already started pushing through with their plans of moving to the United Kingdom.

Jay Lindop is the director of the ONS’ Centre for International Migration. According to him, many world events have had an effect on immigration patterns in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. The rise in the immigration levels in the UK has been brought about by the immigration of many individuals who come from countries that do not belong to the European Union. Many of these are students who are looking to take further or advanced studies in the United Kingdom. However, Lindop also mentioned that it is still too early to actually say if this trend will continue or if the UK will be able to sustain it.
