More And More Highly Qualified Immigrant Workers Are Attracted To Joining The United Kingdom

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (which is known as the OECD) has recently stated that the United Kingdom has become more attracted to highly qualified immigrant workers, and this has caused the country to go up the ranks. This is a good thing as it means that the country has shown and proved that it is a great place for immigrant workers, and can provide good career opportunities for them.

The UK is in need of skilled immigrant workers. With its low birth rate and aging population, there is really a need for new blood to join the workforce. And the results of the study from the OECD are going to be helpful for the country because it can get the attention of even more people who are willing to meet all the requirements so that they could become immigrants in the UK.

The United Kingdom’s rankings

In 2019, the United Kingdom was in the 16th spot for this same study. However, for the report from the OECD this 2023, the country is now in the 7th spot, and has moved nine places up. For the first time, the UK has also ranked above Canada and the United States, which have usually taken better ranks than the UK. This study is the Talent Attractiveness report and is done by the OECD. According to the data from the study, the improvement that the UK has experienced this year is the biggest among all other countries that have been included in the list.

According to the OECD, one of the main reasons why the UK went up in the rankings is because of the changes in the immigration policies and laws in the country. These changes happened after the country’s exit from the European Union, and it includes the removal of the limits on the total of highly skilled immigrant workers who could be allowed to enter the country.

The factors used in the study

There is a list of factors that the OECD used for this study. These factors are said to have an influence on how a country is able to attract talent. This list of factors includes the opportunities that are available in the country and the quality of these opportunities. It also includes tax regulations, the quality of life there, and how a country is suitable for those with families. Joining the UK in this list is New Zealand, Switzerland, Australia, and Sweden.

According to the report, the changes in the immigration policies in many countries have had a huge impact on how attractive these countries have become for highly qualified immigrant workers. It simply reflects just how important the rules and regulations are for immigrants and immigration when it comes to attracting and bringing in new skilled workers.
