New Zealand Government Embraces Talent, Removes Limitations on Skilled Migrant Workers

The government of New Zealand will be changing the requirements for skilled immigrant visas. The minister also continued to disclose that with the changes that the government will be doing, things will be made simpler and the vacancies would be filled up. By removing the cap on skilled immigrant workers and making use of an even more simplified points system, the government is hoping that this would help attract the needed immigrant workers. It is also expected that this would help keep these immigrant workers in the country, as there are shortages of skills for the medium term and for the long term. By doing away with the cap that the government has put on skilled immigrant workers, the constraint is removed, thus allowing faster and more of these skilled individuals to make their way to the country.

Wood has also disclosed that starting in early October this year, the more simplified points system would be introduced by the government. This will set a clear list of skills that the country needs and it would be based on the occupational registration of New Zealand. It would also be based on the qualifications that the country would be needing from the skilled individuals, as well as the income. Those with high skills that the country needs would find themselves moving to the country faster than the others since their services and expertise are needed.
