Immigration Program In Canada For Parents And Grandparents To Reopen On October 13

In a few days, permanent residents and citizens of Canada will be able to send in their applications to bring their parents or their grandparents to the country as immigrants. These permanent residents and citizens of the country would have to signify that they will be the ones to sponsor their loved ones. This program from Canada has been put on hold for some time now and many individuals in the country have been waiting for this to reopen.

This is definitely something that a lot of permanent residents and citizens have been waiting for as they want to be with their families and they want their families to live with them in the beautiful country of Canada. It would not be surprising if a lot of applications come in when the program reopens on October 13, 2020. With the pandemic making a lot of people worry about their parents and grandparents living in their home countries, many people who have the capacity to sponsor their families would be applying to bring them to the country.

Reopening the immigration program

The immigration agency of Canada has disclosed that they will start accepting applications to sponsor parents and grandparents in a few days’ time. This would be under the Parents and Grandparents Program (which is also known as the PGP). Applications can be sent in starting 12 pm EDT of October 13 and will end at 12 pm EDT of November 3. The agency has also clarified that the applications would be a chance for interested individuals to show their interest in being the sponsors for their family members to become immigrants in Canada.

Those who have signified their interest to sponsor their parents and grandparents to become immigrants in Canada will then be receiving an invitation for them to send in their formal application to do so. The applications would be sent to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (or IRCC) and they should be sent within 60 days of receiving the invitation.

The aim of the PGP

The PGP has been created to help individuals in Canada who have moved there, became immigrants, and eventually was awarded citizenship or a permanent residency status. The government has understood that these individuals are longing to be with their families and this is one of the main reasons why they would choose to leave the country after staying there for a time. However, with Canada in need of immigrants to help out in various ways, the PGP was created to help make sure that the new people in the country would opt to stay rather than go back to their home countries. Many people have already benefitted from this program and with its reopening, many more will benefit from it.
